Completeness matrix for business, process, and technology perspectives.

Zachman as a Completeness Lens

The Zachman Framework is a classification matrix—what, how, where, who, when, why—not a delivery methodology. It answers: “Do we have the right perspectives represented?” when teams produce detailed technical diagrams but skip business motivation, ownership, or timing.

Use Zachman during assessments and ARB readiness reviews. Map each proposed artifact to a cell; gaps highlight missing business cases, operational models, or data ownership before funding. Do not mandate a full matrix for every project—that becomes shelfware.

Zachman pairs well with TOGAF: TOGAF supplies process; Zachman supplies completeness checks. Larkinized engagements often use a one-page matrix for transformation programs where multiple vendors and business units must align.
