Glossary

View

A view is a concrete architecture representation—diagram, table, or narrative—created according to a viewpoint for a decision or communication need. Multiple views of the same system serve different stakeholders without contradictory truth when sourced from consistent models. Views should declare scope, date, and assumptions.

In Practice

Larkinized LLC discourages one-size-fits-all diagrams; instead, generate views from repository models where possible. Executive views summarize; engineering views specify interfaces and NFRs. View maintenance is simplified when tied to model updates rather than standalone slides.

Example

A portfolio view shows application lifecycles by capability; a separate integration view details API dependencies for migration planning.
