Blueprint

A blueprint is a prescriptive architecture description—often visual and narrative—that guides implementation of a domain, platform, or solution pattern. Blueprints translate reference architectures into organization-specific standards and component choices. They accelerate delivery by reducing ambiguous design decisions.

In Practice

Larkinized LLC develops blueprints for recurring needs such as analytics platforms, integration hubs, or zero-trust networks. Blueprints live in the pattern library with version control and ARB approval. Teams adapt blueprints through documented variances rather than ad hoc redesign.

Example

A hybrid integration blueprint specifies adapter patterns, monitoring, and security controls for connecting SaaS to legacy ERP.
